Puakea Nogelmeier

Puakea Nogelmeier is Professor at the Kawaihuelani Center for Hawaiian Language at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. A prolific composer and multi-Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner, a kumu hula, and a respected scholar, researcher and writer, Puakea directs the translation/publishing project, Awaiaulu. His translation of The Epic Tale of Hiiakaikapoliopele won the 2008 Samuel M. Kamakau Award for books of the year.
